Male Arrested in Stolen Vehicle with Loaded Handgun

On May 7, 2017, a male was arrested driving a stolen vehicle
while in possession of a loaded handgun.
At 7:00 am, Officers Michael Peters and James Andros IV
observed a Dodge Caravan at Tennessee and Atlantic Avenues that had been
reported stolen the day before. The
owner of the minivan had attempted to use valet parking at the Wyndham Hotel,
100 S. North Carolina Avenue, when he mistakenly turned over his vehicle to a
male that was not an employee. That male
sped off in the minivan.
Officers Peters and Andros arrested the driver of the stolen
vehicle, Steven Jacobs. They also
located a loaded handgun on the floorboard of Jacobs’ seat.
ARRESTED: Steven
Jacobs, a 35 year old male from Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Unlawful
possession of a weapon and theft of movable property.
Jacobs was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
Residents and visitors are reminded to ensure that if
leaving your car with valet, if necessary, confirm that the individual is an
employee of the property. If you are
unsure that the individual may not be an employee, ask to speak with a supervisor.
