For Immediate Release:  May 8, 2017

On May 7, 2017, a male was arrested driving a stolen vehicle while in possession of a loaded handgun.

At 7:00 am, Officers Michael Peters and James Andros IV observed a Dodge Caravan at Tennessee and Atlantic Avenues that had been reported stolen the day before.  The owner of the minivan had attempted to use valet parking at the Wyndham Hotel, 100 S. North Carolina Avenue, when he mistakenly turned over his vehicle to a male that was not an employee.  That male sped off in the minivan.

Officers Peters and Andros arrested the driver of the stolen vehicle, Steven Jacobs.  They also located a loaded handgun on the floorboard of Jacobs’ seat.

ARRESTED:  Steven Jacobs, a 35 year old male from Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Unlawful possession of a weapon and theft of movable property.

Jacobs was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

Residents and visitors are reminded to ensure that if leaving your car with valet, if necessary, confirm that the individual is an employee of the property.  If you are unsure that the individual may not be an employee, ask to speak with a supervisor.
